Review: Fruity Crisp & Blueberry Pie Oreos

It is officially summer, and of course that means we are getting new flavors of different snack food!  This year, the folks at Nabisco decided to release two new Oreo flavors.  When these were both announced, I was immediately excited for both of them, and after waiting for my local Target to get their exclusive flavor in stock, I have finally found them both!

Fruity Crisp & Blueberry Pie Oreo

Yes, Fruity Crisp and Blueberry Pie were the new flavors of choice.  Blueberry Pie Oreos are only available at Target, while the Fruity Crisp flavor is more widely available.  Well, they are supposed to be, but I haven't seen them anywhere since I found them near the beginning of the month.

And yes, I have been waiting a few weeks to write my review on them because I didn't have the other new flavor yet.

How about no more waiting, and we get right to it?

Of the two flavors, this is the one I was looking forward to the most.  A few years ago, they made the amazing Marshmallow Crispy Oreos, and I had hopes of the Fruity Crisp flavor being a least somewhat similar to those.

They are almost exactly what I expected!

Opening the package and taking a whiff, I felt like I got punched in the face by a box of Fruity Pebbles, with just a hint of cookie.  So far, so good.

Opening up one of the cookies revealed that the creme was indeed filled with fruity crisp cereal.

So they look good, and they smell good, but how do they taste?  We've been in this position before and been disappointed.

Seriously, people, if you like Fruity Pebbles (or the store brand knock-offs), you need to get these cookies!  They have taken one of my all-time favorite cereals and made a delicious cookie out of it!  Even if you didn't look at the creme in these, you would be able to tell there is actual cereal inside.  These are so good!

If you find these, don't even think twice.  Buy them immediately.

(Please read blueberry as bloo-burry and not blue-berry, because that is how I am saying it in my head and it is more entertaining that way.)

As excited as I was for the Blueberry Pie Oreos, I didn't exactly have high hopes for them.  I've been burned before.  Opening the package of these cookies was very underwhelming, and not a good sign.

I pulled out a cookie, opened it up, and took another whiff.  Still not getting any blueberry.  This does not bode well.

Still, it might taste good!  I tried the half of the cookie with no creme on it.  It is definitely graham!  In fact, the cookie itself tastes just like the S'MOreos did.

The Blueberry Pie Oreo creme tastes like generic berry flavor (like Fruit Stripe gum or something), with a strange hint of grape.  It isn't bad, but I wouldn't say it's blueberry flavored at all.

And why do you put graham flavored cookie for blueberry pie?  Does anyone actually make blueberry pie with graham cracker crust?  I mean, if it's a blueberry cheesecake, sure, but not a straight up blueberry pie.  Even the picture on the package is of a regular pie crust.

This flavor was confusing.  Not bad, it just wasn't sure what it wanted to be.  If you like berry flavored things, this isn't a bad cookie to get, just don't expect it to actually taste like blueberry pie.
