Review: Limited Edition Cotton Candy & S'Mores Oreos

The nutcases at Nabisco are at it again!  Last time I wrote about Oreo cookies, I covered the Cookie Dough and Marshmallow Crispy flavors.  This summer, Nabisco has brought us Cotton Candy and S'More flavored Oreos.  I obviously needed to eat these.

Before digging in, I had my reservations.  All I could think about was how disappointed I was with the Cookie Dough flavor (which has been recently re-released).  I didn't want to face that same disappointment, especially with the S'Mores flavor.

S'Mores Oreo

One of my favorite things about all of these special flavors is opening the package and taking a big whiff.  Even if it flavor is disappointing, the smell is almost always spot on.  The graham smell was perfect.  It was like opening a package of graham crackers and chocolate frosting at the same time.  I didn't detect any marshmallow though.

That's kind of the overall flaw with these cookies.  They smell good. They look good. And they taste good.  They don't really taste like a s'more, and that is because the marshmallow flavor is severely lacking.  Opening the cookie and tasting the white creme just gives you a taste of the standard Oreo filling.  I'm not really sure what went wrong, because they nailed the flavor of the Marshmallow Crispy Oreo.

They got the graham flavor right, and the chocolate creme tastes fine.  I just wish the marshmallow was there.  Maybe even tasting a little bit toasted.  If that flavor was there, these cookies would be perfect.
Cotton Candy Oreo

Ever wondered what it would taste like to take a handful of cotton candy and eat it with a plain cookie?  Wonder no more!  I don't know why this cookie exists, but I'm kind of happy that it does.  It is good.

The best thing about this flavor is that I don't have to remind myself to only eat a couple at a time, because it is so sweet that I can't eat more than a couple.  It just isn't feasible.

Opening the package, the cotton candy smell exploded out and rubbed itself all over my nostrils.  It smelled just like opening a bag of cotton candy at the fair.  My son smelled it out in the living room, and came running in to get some.  This prompted my six year old to come running in as well.  Before I knew it, they were half gone.  They just disappeared in a flurry of children.

Out of the two flavors, this was the overwhelming favorite.

Both flavors are available now, and I don't think either are exclusive to any retailer, so they should be pretty easy to find.
