Nintendo Direct Aug. 7: The Legend of Zelda Edition

A new Nintendo Direct came out today, and it was chock full of news on upcoming games.  There was some good news regarding The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD and hunting for Triforce pieces.  If you don't want to watch the whole video, you can check out my summary after the jump.

The first announcement is the release date for Sonic Lost World, which is October 22 on both the 3DS and Wii U.  It was also announced that the two versions would have some cross-platform play in the form of sending stuff from the 3DS version to the Wii U version for a second player to control.

Next, we got some news about Rayman Legends.  Nothing really major, but it was announced that the Wii U version will have Mario and Luigi costumes.  Kind of neat, I guess.

We also got a look at Art Academy Sketchpad (which releases Thursday, August 9), Pikmin 3, Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, and Pokemon Rumble U (releasing August 29).

Some new releases were announced as well.  Summer Carnival '92 Recca, a shump from the Famicon that is one of the rarest games ever is coming to the 3DS Virtual Console, as is Tecmo Bowl, Wario Land 3, and Super Mario Bros. 3.

A bit of news on the Street Pass relay system, Animal Crossing New Leaf items, and the new Professor Layton game comes next, and then we get some of the best news ever!

Yes!  The Professor Layton Vs. Phoenix Wright  game is coming out in the states in 2014!  I actually got goosebumps when I saw that.

Now we come to the news regarding the two upcoming releases for The Legend of Zelda.  First, we get some information about A Link Between Worlds.  Traveling between the two worlds involves the whole "turning into a drawing" mechanic, and traveling through a crack between the two.  The game also takes place "many years" after A Link to the Past.  It takes place far into the future, and that means it is yet another Link.  The game will be out in November.

When they get to The Wind Waker, it is revealed that they added faster sailing, and they fine tuned the Triforce hunt so as to not ruin the immersion in the game.  The Wind Waker HD will be out this October.

The last little tidbit of information is for Animal Crossing Plaza for the Wii U.  It's a place to post about Animal Crossing New Leaf.  It will also work as a calendar of events for your town, and the animals will also talk about what happened in your town.  You can even import Animal Crossing pictures from your 3DS SD card and post them on your Wii U!  It will only be available until the end of 2014, but it is available now!
