CSM '12: Home Alone 2

It's December, and almost Christmas! Therefore, I've decided to do a follow up to my surprisingly popular Halloween Movie Madness! Every night through Christmas Eve, I will be watching a different Christmas movie or special and then rambling on about them, sometimes even being coherent!

Home Alone 2

Waitaminute, didn't I just watch this movie yesterday? No, it just feels like it. This movie suffers from cashgrabinitis. They made it simply to cash in on the popularity of the first. However, they changed just enough to still make it entertaining and worth your time.

Everyone in this movie is still jerks, but now they all have the added benefit of appearing more stupid. Kevin fights with the family the night before they all leave for their big family trip. The alarm clock gets unplugged, so everyone oversleeps again. This time, Kevin makes it to the airport shuttle. While the family is running through the airport, Kevin stops to change the batteries in his TalkBoy (Something that I wanted when they were actually released the following year. Never got one.), and ends up following a different man wearing a coat similar to his father's. So, instead of flying to Florida with the family, he ends up in New York. At least this time he made it to the airport with everyone. Maybe the next family trip would have worked better. He might have only been lost in the same city.

The Wet Bandits from the first film escaped prison, and also ended up in New York. And yes, in a city with millions of people, they run into Kevin. Shenanigans ensue, and Kevin once again ends up defending a house against the moronic robbers. On top of that, Kevin is also chased earlier in the movie by the hotel staff at the Plaza Hotel, where he checked in under his father.

Like I stated earlier, even though this movie is vary similar (All jerks!), there is enough new stuff to make it good. The new traps that he comes up with are outstanding, especially the one where he electrocutes Marv. The scene really shows how much of a live action cartoon this movie is.

If you've seen the first, but not the second, give it a shot. You might be pleasantly surprised. Just don't watch the other three films.
